Legislation has been passed that moves the due date for 1st installment tax bills from March 1 to April 1. The purpose of this change is to avoid a back-to-back tax bill scenario, such as what has developed with Cook County’s failure to get the tax bills out on time. This change is of critical importance to some incumbent politicians because of the 2026 Primary Elections scheduled for mid-March. Governor Pritzker is expected to sign the legislation.
