STATEMENT FROM ALDERMAN GILBERT VILLEGAS On Appointment to Chair of Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards I want to thank my colleagues for having the confidence to support me as Chair of the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards. I also want to thank my colleague Alderman Bennett Lawson for the tremendous work he has done. I look forward to working with him to make sure we continue moving in the right direction and keep the momentum going in the city.

The City of Chicago is the best city in the world. As the new Zoning Chairman, I am ready to build on that greatness by championing smart, inclusive development that strengthens our neighborhoods and fuels our economy. Together, we will cut through red tape, utilize technology to modernize our systems, improve efficiency, and unlock new opportunities for every ward – designing a future where Chicago doesn’t just grow, it thrives.
